Cut offs

105 miles: TBC:

55 miles: 16 hours:(Totnes finish)

The South Hams Ultra is a very scenic 105 mile and 55 mile circumnavigation of South Hams in Devon, which follows the spanking new South Hams Way in South Devon. If this isn't for you, you can enter the 55 mile race to Totnes instead.

The South Hams Ultra follows existing public rights of way, bridleways and coastal paths, as well as traversing parts of Dartmoor National Park, beautiful South Hams countryside, and five estuaries. The SHW was established by the South Hams Ramblers and we are very excited to be able to showcase this beautiful circumnavigation route as part of their launch.

The Route

You will circumnavigate South Hams in a clockwise direction, using the South Hams Way for the most part, but you will start in the car park at Aveton Gifford, in order to cross the Erme at Mothecombe estuary at low tide (10pm Friday 3rd October).

From here, the route takes you south up the Avon Valley towards Noss Mayo, picking up the Erme-Plym trail to Yealmpton and Ermington beyond, heading to Ivybridge and picking up the Two Moors Way (and Puffing Billy Track) to South Brent and following the Avon Dam, before crossing the Abbots Way to Buckfastleigh.

From Buckfastleigh, it's south to Totnes, crossing the railway line at Staverton. Fifty five milers finish here at the Town Mill, Coronation Rd, Totnes TQ9 5DF.

Otherwise it's on to Dittisham and Dartmouth via the Dart Valley Trail. From here, you'll join the SW Coast Path, all the way past Torcross and Start Point, until reaching the ferry in Salcombe, where you will embark at The Passageway in East Portlemouth.

From here, runners will continue past Hope Cove and Bantham, completing the loop by finishing in Aveton Gifford at the Village Hall.
