2 Moors Way (sleeping in bell tent)


Connect the Two Moors in South West England and arrange a bespoke, five-day guided running holiday from Lynton to Ivybridge (or in reverse if you prefer) with our knowledgeable and experienced guides. You choose the location, dates and daily distances and we do the rest.

We will arrange the logistics, baggage transfer, first aid trained guides, accommodation, locally sourced food and more often than not, the evening’s entertainment!

You will need a minimum of 4 people and the camp will be at least 3 days.

We can arrange wild running camps in the North West Highlands, the Lake District, Dartmoor National Park, Exmoor or Snowdonia as well as in the Auvergne in France. We may also be able to provide camps outside these areas in special circumstances.

Wild Running guided runs involve inspiring off road running tours within Dartmoor National Park, Exmoor National Park, the South West Coast path or anywhere in the UK. We provide challenging running experiences with professional instructors and you can bag us on weekdays or weekends.

Navigation Course on Dartmoor, Devon

Suitable for runners, walkers, individuals & groups.

Weekdays & weekends

Whether you are completely new to off road running, or just a bit rusty in the old map and compass department, WR’s navigation courses on Dartmoor in Devon, aim to provide you with the basic skills to traverse tricky moorland landscapes.

What’s included

  • Skills/Technique training
  • Set a Compass bearing from map to ground.
  • Use a compass to follow bearings accurately across open ground over short legs.
  • Measure distances with reasonable accuracy by double pacing and timing.
  • Estimate the time needed for height gain.
  • Use major landforms (hills, spurs, valleys, ridges) as a means of navigation.
  • Identify smaller contour features on a map and ground ie re entrants and small hills.
  • Use aiming off to reach a target on a linear feature.
  • Identify the most appropriate route, where more than one is available.
  • Use coarse navigation and collection features to locate an attack point.
  • From an attack point use fine navigation to locate a target.
  • Additional extra. We will also provide GPS navigation techniques (upon request), including downloading adn uploading routes and getting the most out of your device.

Suitable for people who took part in part 1 or any one who can already read a map but wants to hone their skills. You do not have to have taken part in Part 1 to book on to this however.

Navigation for Running evening August 16, 2017


A 4 hour evening course based at The Forest Inn in Hexworthy on Dartmoor, with an experienced mountain runner, ML leader and NNAS instructor, with a 3 hour practical and 1 hour theory component over coffee. The aim is to get you to the next level so you can guide yourself.
