This is our itinerary:
Itinerary East to West Scotland Wild Running trip
Pick up Dundee, stay at the Arlie Arms Hotel in Kirimuir. 30 minute’s drive from
Dundee. Dinner will be a three course affair to build your strength for the first
Day 1: 7.30am to 8.30am: Drive 25 mins to the start of the trails. Run Jocks
road, Glen Doll to Braemar 20k 750m ascent. Catch your first breath of fresh
Scottish air and follow your feet in to the trails! Stay at the Glen Lui Hotel in
Ballater near Braemar, where we have also booked you in for dinner.
Day 2: 7.30am to 8.30am: Breakfast of champions followed by run from the Lin of Dee through the Laraig Ghru to Aviemore. 29k 650m ascent. Stay in Aviemore at the
splendid Ravenscraig B&B, where you will be treated to a hearty Scottish
dinner, perhaps with some whisky thrown in?
Day 3: 7.30am to 8.30am: Drive to Glen affric (1hr 30) Run Glen Affric to Kintail
27k 550m ascent. Stay at the Kintail Lodge in Ratagan, where you will also have
Day 4: 7.30am to 8.30am: Drive to Achnasheen (40mins) Run to Torridon 24k
1000m ascent. Stay at the Torridon SYH, we think one of the best equipped
hostels in the country. Dinner will be at the Torridon Lodge.
Day 5: 7.30am to 8.30am: Drive to Poolewe (1hr) Run Fisherfield crossing 33km
1200m ascent. Congratulations you have just run 100 plus miles over some the
toughest but most scenic terrain in the UK. We think you have earnt a feast, a
presentation evening and a wee dram to finish. We will drop you off at your
hotel The Jury Inn in Inverness 1hrs drive away and then head out for our
NB: We will be doing two drop off at the airport and train station-one in the
morning and one in the afternoon. If you don’t want to catch either of these
then we can advise you how to make your own way to the airport/train station
