Robert is the latest addition to our team and will be helping to develop the coaching services that Wild Running offer. Having completed his undergraduate study at the University of Bath, Robert is now working towards a PhD in Sport and Health Sciences, based at the Children’s Health and Exercise Research Centre, University of Exeter. His research focuses on childhood specialisation in distance running, and when combined with his coaching experience and his own athletic pursuits, it is fair to say that Robert is quite the endurance sport enthusiast.
As an athlete, he has progressed from being a recreational runner to a competitive marathon runner, having recorded a 2:32.32 at the 2017 London Marathon (94th place). Other highlights include a half marathon PB of 1:11.14 and qualifying to represent GB at the 2018 European Sprint Duathlon Championships. This progression has required years of structured training, with his favourite element of training being a recovery run along scenic trails.
Alongside these endeavours, Robert is a fully qualified UKA Coach in Running Fitness and is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others and helping them achieve their full potential. Wild Running is delighted to have him join the team as a coach and are excited to see what our athletes can achieve with a well thought out training plan.
